I received one of these shower bugs as a gift years ago...I loved how it looked, I thought it was so cute (read: cheesy, sometimes, I love cheesy). :) But, that's not enough to give it a good rating. The radio's digital time was clear, making watching time in the shower quick and easy. The major problem was the radio - the shower bug is primarily a RADIO, so one would expect to be able to use that functionality relatively easy. Not the case!
As other said, the tuner would reset itself to the beginning of the dial when turned off and retuning it to a station was very difficult/time consuming. I lived on the top floor of my apartment building, had a window in my shower, and would get very good radio signals from NYC radio stations in the area on other radios - but the shower bug often wouldn't find the very strong radio station signals. I had a hard time being able to tell if it was on the right station or not, since it wasn't a digital dial (if I remember correctly, the dial didn't even have the station numbers on it) and the radio wouldn't pick up the radio stations at the same strengths as other radios (sometimes a station that had a bad signal on other radios would pick up better on this than a good signaled station). There are two reason this is bad: you might not be able to listen to your favorite radio station every day and you could waste a LOT of time trying to tune the thing every time you use it (which, for me, defeated the purpose of having it as it was to help me keep my time in the shower to a minimum).
The bug needs major improvements - I'd purchase it again if it functioned as expected! -- Cute, but that's where it ends
The shower bug is a fun clock/radio for the shower. I got it for my brother who took showers for too long and essentially we ran out of hot water. The thing is easy to put in the shower. The suction cups work well. They have worn out a bit over time and I may have to push them back on more often, but the unit has never fallen.
It is hard/a pain to find radio stations, but for the price you cannot expect a digital dial and functionality offered in other shower clock/radios. Good signal for the radio. Plus the thing is kind of cute!
Great price for a simple product. -- Shower Bug!!!
Works good. I've had mine for a year now. No complains. You get what you pay for.... -- Good buy~!
Started out decent for two days. Then started losing volume in the shower for no reason. After that it would no longer change stations. This product should not be sold for more than two dollars including shipping. -- Do not buy
My wife bought this shower radio years ago. We hated it. It was packed away when we moved into our new home three or so years ago. I just found it last week. I just remembered that I hated it.
This radio has horrible reception. I could get over that if you didn't have to push a button to go through the channels. It only sticks on channels it wants to (whether they are powerful enough or not) you can only go up through the dial and when you reach the end you have to press reset. When you do find a channel it will cut out for no reason in the middle of a song. Sometimes the channel comes back.
On the plus sign it keeps good time. Clock still worked years later when I found it packed away the other day...
I do NOT recommend this. Unless you are one that likes to use a computer without a monitor, rather with punch tape -- as that is what it is like going through the channels with those two buttons. -- Found it packed away the other day, wish I didn't...
