User Reviews

For a long time was looking for am fm radio small, aesthetically pleasing, with good reception and resistant to water, this radio meets all the requirements, it has good sound quality, enough for me, I can hear the news when I 'm bathing.

For its price and features, is an excellent radio for the purpose it was designed. -- Excellent
Not bad considering the price alone, but add in the cost of batteries it eats through and your better off looking for something more than a waterproof 5$ transistor radio. -- keep looking
This is a pretty good radio for its price. Cant really ask much more from a shower radio I guess. The reception could be better. Same for the sound quality. I wish the hook/handle was shaped better. But despite all of these flaws, it still serves it purpose quite well. -- Pretty Good for its price
This raidio does not get hardly any stations in ourr bathroom. It is one of the most useless items I have ever purchased. -- lousy reception
Pros: Small footprint, easy to operate and place in shower, adequate volume
Cons: quality control issues (had to exchange twice)

I bought this at BB&B as a replacement for a nicer shower radio that broke, because it was the cheapest alternative. I initially was impressed because I found lots of places where it would hang nicely in my shower and because it was easy to turn on and off, tune the dial, and adjust the volume even while showering. However, a day or two after I bought it the AM/FM switch stopped working properly, such that I could only tune to FM stations by jamming the switch as hard as I could to the FM side--which broke it straightaway. I exchanged it and the switch worked fine on the second one, but try as I might I could not tune in to the station I wanted to listen to (nothing but static). As another reviewer suggested, I opened it up and shoved some aluminum foil around the antenna in various configurations with no change in the reception. So I exchanged it again, and the third one works perfectly--no problems with the AM/FM switch and great reception. I have two sets of four rechargeable AAA batteries (Rayovac Hybrid - Battery 4 x AAA NiMH and the new Rayovac Platinums, which are both low self-discharge NiMHs) and swap them out about once a month.

The bottom line is that this is a very nice shower radio--if you get a good one. It's quite obvious that Conair is suffering from some pretty serious quality control issues; but then again, the price would probably be higher if they put more effort into it. -- Third time's the charm...
